Accomplishments
Breathe Easy Foundation Accomplishments This foundation has made tremendous accomplishments in a very short period of time. The board members of this foundation are all volunteer they don’t receive any financial gain, and they have personal obligations like jobs, and family, this limits their time but they still manage to make great strides. Everyone on this board has to deal with the day to day issues that Cystic Fibrosis creates like long and frequent hospital admissions, daily treatments that take hours away per day to complete, and more. As President of this Foundation and a person suffering for Cystic Fibrosis I could not be more proud and grateful to everyone that is working to make this foundation and legacy a success. Below is a list of all our accomplishments thus far, please take the time to read and see how amazing this team is… January 2010 The idea for a foundation dedicated to helping individuals with Cystic Fibrosis was discussed by Kevin A Przybyl and Dr. Daniel Layish in Orlando, Fl during a routine doctor appointment. Dr Layish received information that Florida was cutting a major financial assistance program for hundreds of patients with Cystic Fibrosis in Florida. This program provided assistance for basic needs like food, shelter, utilities and medications. It also helped with co-pays, hospital bills, travel expenses, and many more items that Cystic Fibrosis patients cannot provide for themselves but need to live. March 2010 A application was filed with the Congressional District Programs to act as a 501c3 under their Tax Id number. Erin Taylor joins the Breathe Easy Foundation Board of Directors April 2010 Breathe Easy Foundation was accepted as a program of the Congressional District Programs and could not start fundraising efforts as a 501c3. Breathe Easy Foundation Teams up with Capital One Credit Card and creates three custom credit cards. These cards allow us to receive up to 10% of purchases card holders make. This program has helped raise over $1200 in 2010. May 2010 Kevin, Erin, Michele, and Deanna along with Orlando Salt Room plan their first fundraiser. Chocolate and wine tasting with salt room therapy sessions. The event drew more than 100 guests and raised $2000 for the foundation. That night Cassie Synder joined our foundation and shortly after became a member of the board of Directors. June 2010 The Kevin A Przybyl Breathe Easy Foundation, Inc was established as its own nonprofit corporation. We applied with the IRS for our own 501c3 status, the application was completed solely by the board members of the Breathe Easy Foundation saving the foundation thousands of dollars in legal fees. Planning for our second fundraiser began, our first annual golf tournament at Reunion Resort in Orlando, Fl on September 4, 2010. September 2010 Breathe Easy Foundation held its first annual golf tournament with over 50 golfers participating. The events prizes included Hotel packages for the first and second place foursomes, putting contest winner received a 5 day Carnival Cruise, Closest to the Pin and Longest Drive winners received two tickets to any major sporting event in the United States, plus tons of raffle prizes. The event raised over $6,000. Novemeber 2010 The Breathe Easy Foundation and Florida Hospital Foundation begin talks to team up and work towards a much needed remodel of two patient rooms. These rooms use will be dedicated for treating adult patients with Cystic Fibrosis. Winter Park Hospital cares for over 100 adult patients under the care of Central Florida Pulmonary Group doctors. At any given week there are 3-5 CF patients admitted to this facility for admissions that last up to months at a time. The estimated costs for this project are $6,000. December 2010 The IRS approved our 501c3 and the Kevin A Przybyl Breathe Easy Foundation, Inc became its own 501c3 nonprofit. Daniela and Perry Aulie join the foundation and Perry becomes a member of the Board of Directors. Dunkin Donuts donates a grant for $2,000, the funds from this grant will go towards the remodel at Winter Park Hospital. Planning also began for our first annual yard sale set for January 2011. January 2011 First annual yard sale held and raised $2400. The Board of Directors meet and set the dates for our second Annual Golf tournament at Reunion Golf Resort October 1, 2011. Also Chili’s give back night February 23, 2011, and our first annual motorcycle run sponsored by Seminole Harley Davidson, Dunkin Donuts, and Cystic Fibrosis Pharmacy is set for March 19, 2011. February 2011 The Cystic Fibrosis Pharmacy, Breathe Easy Foundation, and Florida Hospital Foundation meet to discuss the funding and specifics of the room remodels. We are honored to have the CF Pharmacy donate half the necessary funds to remodel the rooms. February 11, 2011 all three groups meet and sign over checks totaling $6000 to remodel two patient rooms. This is the Breathe Easy Foundations first major step towards helping patients with CF. The project is set to be completed in two months. The first annual Breathe Easy Bass Tournament is set for June 4, 2011 on Harris Chain of Lakes at Hickory Point Boat Ramp. |
